The San Fernando Valley is located in the northwestern part of the city of Los Angeles. The San Fernando Valley is bound by the Santa Susana Mountains to the northwest, the Santa Monica Mountains to the south, the Simi Hills to the West, the Verdugo Mountains to the east, and the San Gabriel Mountain to the northwest. The San Fernando Valley was named in honor of a Spanish Saint/King. In the early 1800s the settlement had blossomed in a trading center where they bought and sold olives, Wine, and livestock. In 1840s San Fernando enjoyed a brief gold rush. The valley is known for it’s Mediterranean weather.
