Santa Monica is a costal city in the Los Angeles County. The city has 3.5 miles of broad sandy coastline and is known for it’s casual yet luxurious shopping and dining. Dolphins often choose this stretch of shoreline for playful morning swims. Santa Monica is known for having more than 340 days of sunshine per year and is home to the famous Santa Monica Pier and Third Street Promenade. The city is known for it beautiful beach front properties that stretch along the coastline.

Because of its weather and beautiful beaches the city experienced a boom in the late 1980’s though its revitalization of it’s downtown core. The city was named after Saint Monica of Hippo. This was the namesake of the city, which was first visited by missionaries on the saint’s feast day. The city is situated on the Santa Monica Bay of the Pacific Ocean. Although it’s completely surrounded by the city of Los Angeles it is not in fact part of the city of Los Angeles. With West Los Angeles and Mar Vista to the east and Pacific Palisades and Brentwood to the north and Venice to the south.
